The astral vampire, from occult lore, is the spirit of a living vampire or other evil entity. They can also be created by witches or sorcerers who are strong enough to project themselves out of their own bodies to attack people at great distances. The attack is said to be created psychically and they may also be referred to as “psychic vampires”, not to be confused with its other meaning. (a person who believes they can feed off others energies psychically.)

The spirit of a restless dead person may also be able to project itself by exiting its body and feed on living people. When a living person is attacked while sleeping, it feeds off of the psychic energy and can cause depression, madness, and suicide to the victim. When the spirit of the vampire returns, the dead body feeds off of it, this theory is known as the “hemolytic factor.” The vampire sucks up the red corpuscles released in the victim’s blood. These are later brought back to the grave and given to the corpse for food or energy. To protect against one of these vampires only magic will help, using a stake in the heart will not stop it.

  • I believe that there may indeed truly be something to this. I had moved in to an appartment with a guy I had met through a hobby and game store. We were both artists and he seemed almost artificially personable and polite. I, however, still wanting to believe the best of a new friend, put my instincts aside. Later when I needed to move, in order to persue a job, he offered me a place to live, as his old roomate was moving out. For a while it went fine and we got along well. But after about the second year living with the guy, I began to have horrible nightmares in which I was being sexually & painfully molested and eventually raped by demons. Let me be very clear in that I actually physically felt in these dreams and remembered the pain distinctly after waking. I had never experienced this before and was severely disturbed by the lucid reality of these dreams. When I told my friends about this nobody believed me. This went on for some time and I began to become severely withdrawn and depressed. I wouldn’t come out of my room, and slept for days at time, unable to ever awaken refreshed and restored. My friends would try to make plans to meet with me, and I would agree to meet up with them, only to back out at the last minute, due to overwhelming anxiety attacks. That room had become my cell. Much like in Bram Stoker’s Dracula – I, the house guest, was now the prisoner of some fiendish, intangible, malignant will, bent on keeping, and feeding on me. As the months passed by things got steadily and progressivly worse. When I’d go home to visit my family, I lied about my situation, and made everything out to be fine. I would dread returning to my appartment, but would experience terrible anxiety attacks if I was away from it for more than a few days, and would hastily rush back to my dreadful room where I would find a macabre calm.
When my mom came up to drive me home for medical attention, due to my eyes becoming strangely sensitive to light, she said that there was something lonely and at the same time, creepy about the appartment. I couldn’t disagree.
Months passed and my health got worse. I was still experiencing the nightmares. My roomate seemed to find what I could only describe as a cruel sarcastic glee at my telling him of my nightmarish experiences. He’d make cryptic and vague comments about how I should feel lucky such attention was being spent on me, as “the Devil doesn’t speak to just anyone. You must be important.” He’d smile. I would feel sick. He definitly seemed to enjoy all of this. And then one night, after he had gotten high smoking marajauna, he confessed, in a round-a-bout fashion, to having dabbled in witchcraft, as a youth of 16 and had professed himself, back then, to have been a Warlock.
After that I began to become seriously avoidant of spending any time in his presence for any extended period of time. In a later conversation he spoke about how the days of the ancient religeons that practiced human sacrifice were so much better. I said the world must have been a terrible place before the comming of Jesus Christ, and at that moment he hissed. Like a cat. His eyes dialated and in a far-off bitter stare he muttered “No.” As his thin lips creased in a mocking and genuinely angry smirk. I said “Oh yeah, come on man. Our world has only been made better by the comming of Christianity, even IF you factor in inquisitions and the crusades. Those were done by and through the faults of men. The actual teachings of Christ are only good.” Then he walked away and silently went into his room and closed the door. It was both a triumphant and yet desturbing moment.
I realized that there may be yet, even in our modern age, those individuals that are, in their own consciously free-willed minds, purposefully devoted to a spiritual ideal of evil. I went to the local Catholic Church and purchased a rosery. When I returned to my appartment I hung it around the door-knob inside my room. I began reading from the Holy Bible sincerely. I had always believed. But now I had need. I memorized the Lord’s Prayer so thoroughly that even in the dread nightmares I could recite it. It became a weapon and I would be able to lash my dream world assailants with my fists and feet as each word became a damning battle cry.

I soon after, moved home to be with my family. For a while I still struggled with nightmares. I dedicated myself to reading scripture. For the most part I was recovering. But one night I awoke to the sensation of my bed matress bouncing and shaking. It was then that I told my mom everything. I then sought the blessing of my home Church’s Pastor as I am originally confirmed in the Lutheran faith. I am now recovering and urge any who have experienced anything of the supernatural to seek the aid and strength of Jesus Christ. This stuff is very real and there is hope and protection in our loving creator, God the Father. Seek his will and the Holy Spirit will become not only your refuge but your weapons to defend yourself and those you love. May the peace of our Lord be with you all brothers and sisters. May you never have to experience the things I did. And if you have, or are still, then seek help, Jesus does not back down. You will find safety there.

  • Very interesting…. I don’t know how much you have looked up on the subject of psychic vampire attacks. You might want to search Dion Fortune, which is her pen name, her real name is Violet Mary Firth. She has written many books, both fiction and non-fiction, around the 1930′s. She also experienced psychic attacks from her boss when she was 20 years old and wrote a book about it called “Psychic Self-Defense.” I personally haven’t read it, but I read a description. There’s also another book she wrote called “The Mystical Qabalah.”
